Connotations The pips on the 2 humanoid could potentially be rank insignia. For example, Picard's 5 pips could mean he has a higher ranking. The ship (Enterprise) speeding (at warp) into the background which could be a connotation of space and the unknown. The drones at the bottom (borg) in the background could mean a malevolence about them. The light around the top humanoids could show that they have a benevolence, a antonym of the drones at the bottom. It could also be a connotation of them going somewhere, potentially dangerous. This could be a connotation, as behind there seems to be what looks an evil presence. She looks similar to the drones at the bottom but slightly different which could mean she is a different species, or a leader. The title "Resistance is Futile" could be a connotation hat shows tension of the humanoids and the drones bellow and their potential threat.
The black, represents the vastness of space. The white title, shows more neutral side like reviews and titles. The purple light, could show the exploration of unknown anomalies in the void yet to be explored of which the ship is racing away to. The light around the top characters could denote that they are good as light is predominantly 'good' colour. We are more able to sympathise with the humanoids rather than the dark faceless aliens bellow. Finally, the speeding colour of lights could show that the ship is going at extreme speeds.
Denotations of the posters is a planet, a ship, a giant face, a ring, a ship, red light a title that says "Star Trek First Contact", Blue lights out of the ship and a glare from an object on the middle left of the poster. Blue surface, black space and a grey ship.
Connotations One connotation of this poster is that there is a face in the center of the poster with an evil smile on him. This could mean that there is a centralised evil being that could threaten the plant as it overlooks. The ship is racing towards it which could mean that it is trying to save the planet from an invading being. The ship with the blue lights which comes out of what could be a potential tail pipe for a ship which by the speed that it is going would indicate a faster than light propulsion. The light ring over the planet the planet from the light source which could indicate a source of benevolent creatures below which may be the inhabitants of the planet which could be in danger from the creature above. The light yellow, which could mean goodness from the ship approaching. The antagonist at the top has the same sort of malevolence about him we would expect in a normal film, this is, a dark background around him. However it could also be space where the setting, by the look of the spaceship, is most likely to take place. Another thing is the red around the obvious villain, this again, contradicts the blue, this then showing that there is some sort of tension between the planet, its inhabitants and/or what it has on it or around it. As in the first poster the title still has a specific set of colour scheme, which could indicate to those who are unaware that there is a sequel to the previous one before.

HOW DOES THE WONDER WOMAN DVD COVER USE FORMAL AND STYLISTIC CONVENTIONS TO APPEAL TO AN AUDIENCE? (Continuation)
It uses the appeal to male gender because of the lack of clothing she has. It is also a title above her which represents that she is strong and noble. This shows that she is the main protagonist. Another convention is that at her side is two female characters in front of the blue background. This could show a relationship between her and the other female characters. The male, in front of the more evil background shows his strength which is what could be a convention of war and is another main antagonist. The 3 frames a second shows that that these are the main protagonists of the film. The blue (peace) contradicts the red (danger) to show that there is an element of war going on, this is shown in the background and therefore shows that it is the setting of the film. The back cover shows that there is over 2 hours of special features, this means that , again to appeal to the audience, that as well as buying the main film itself, it is also able for you to see other things like bloopers, how it was made and the casts reaction. The Warner Brothers logo, like the DC logo shows a symbol of quality and is by a trusted company based on past experiences. Also, there is a dependence of where you can get them because of the region of films, for example, the UK is Regent 2 which means that there is only a certain disk we can have. Another thing is it explains how to set up a 4K connection in vague detail. Also, there could be a hologram that shows authenticity that it is real quality.
HOW DOES THE WONDER WOMAN DVD COVER REPRESENT GENDER TO AN AUDIENCE?
a female is represented as a strong and noble person, rather than the usual "damsel in distress" usually associated with women. However, she is still lightly dressed so as to appel to the male audience as well as the other two behind her. The man is more tightly dressed usually associated with the female gender. This could denote an appel again but this time to the female audience. So all in all, females are represented as 'sexy' and males as 'hansom'.

The special features including 4K Blu-ray mean that it is better quality and can be upscale and the bonus features make it better value for money and helps sell it. The genre of this may be a mature audience, due to the age rating and may be about things like youth ignorance and could show that he may of had a bad past and could show a sad story. The back also has the Italian flag colours so is also a nice back cover that makes it an interesting for the aufience at the back to see and more incline to buy my DVD that will enable me to gain more money and produce more money
The stylistic conventions
The fire shows that there is a heroism to the protagonist. Another thing, is that it represents his dark and melancholic past. His faded name in the smoke represents Shadows (the protagonist) very dark past. The platform he is on show that he is a represented national hero. Then the evil Dr when in the bottom right hand corner, this show that there is an evil presence, an arch enemy. The shadow behind Shadow is a metaphor about his childhood which, the shadow is behind him and the past that is left behind him. This could be a good indicate of what the film could possibly be about. The 3 screen shots on the back shows the different scenes, but also maybe keen plot points in it. the extras at the bright light on him can confirm that he is the protagonist in the movie. The props will be able to highlight certain key people, for example as we can see, the different marching bands but it highlights Dr when as he is more colourfully decorated and therefore stands out to the audience. The layout shows Shadow to be at center foreground while the antagonist (Dr When) being down in the corner of the page. The red with white and green show the colour of Italy's flag where the film is set. The back also has the Italian flag colours so is also a nice back cover that makes it an interesting for the audience at the back to see and more incline to buy my DVD that will enable me to gain more money and produce more money. The back shows 3 different frames as to show the protagonist, antagonist and exciting adventures which may be found in the film.
How dose your DVD cover appeal to the audience.
My DVD cover appeals to the audience because of the use of eccentric use of colour. It also come with added bonuses so this make them more inclined to buy my DVD because there extra thus meaning it is better value for money and why people want to buy it. The pull quotes allow it to go to a wider audience. The added bonus of having a commentator is that it lets you see the differences behind what the different cast think. The foreground of the protagonist means that they can clearly see the actor who will be playing the characters and that people will see a familiar face and so know that it is a genuine film. The colours appeal to the different people who will want to see the more red flames that can show the difference that there will be a destructive film. The other thing is that there is different kinds of genre, themes and character representation but will have other elements of comedy and entertainment. The other thing is the representation of gender, the main protagonist is a man but is strong therefore representing the gender equality. The shadow in the back show that when he is younger, he is not taken as seriously. It also shows his troubled background and how it helped him to see his path to a better future
Trailer Marketing Analysis
HOW DOES THE WONDER WOMAN TRAILER USE FORMAL AND STYLISTIC CONVENTIONS TO APPEAL TO AN AUDIENCE?
The trailer uses stylistic and formal conventions to the audience by showing Wonder woman as being a strong, appealing and heroic figure. This is shown by her willing nature (that is, one that helps people out) and her compassion to fight the good fight and to right the wrongs in WW1. The man in this is a traditional historic and brave person who is also ment to be asthetical appealing to the audience along with other members of the film title and cover.
Other of the connotations include, The use of colour that is in the main title screen and throughout the trailer. The grey background is a representation of the bleakness of war. The flash light is most probably an explosion due to the normal flash of light seen during the explosion. The blue and fashionable dress that restricts the lady's movement is a traditional female quality. The wood in the background (as in context and the shots). This is probably a cabinet meeting room which may contain a discussion of a key plot point in the film. The comedic element in it is also contradicts the other dangers in the film.
